Multiple Intelligences.

It seems that we still do not really understand this in school, where perhaps only some type of the abilities were considered as being smarts. Reading Bannatyne's synopsis at http://www.bannatynereadingprogram.com/BP12MULT.htm make me wonder, tat Malay especially boys might be superior/dominant in left brain and not too good on the right brain side. And this could cause problems in the education system which emphasize right brain side as teh ultimate.
Severe case could cause dyslexic( Bannatyne, 1970), which has this meaning "Having impaired ability to comprehend written words usually associated with a neurologic disorder".
This is something we teh educators need to understand. We shoudl try to improve teh system so that ALL type of students be it strong Left or Right side of teh brain be prepared accordingly and ensure success in their future undertaking.
Here is Howard Gardner's categorization of Multiple Intelligences:
Linguistic Intelligence which involves the ability to learn languages in spoken and written forms for the main purpose of accomplishing certain types of goals. (Writers, lawyers, etc.)
Logical-mathematical Intelligence which detects patterns, reasons deductively and thinks logically. (Scientists, mathematicians, etc.)
Musical Intelligence which composes, performs and recognizes musical patterns, such as pitches, tones and rhythms. (Musicians, etc.)
Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence which uses mental abilities to coordinate bodily movements. (Sports persons, dancers, gymnasts, etc.)
Spatial Intelligence which recognizes and uses patterns of wide and confined areas. (Astronomers, materials scientists, designers, etc.)
Interpersonal Intelligence which understands the intentions, motivations and ideas of other people. (Educators, politicians, counselors, etc.)
Intrapersonal Intelligence which is the ability to understand one's own feelings, fears and motivations with the purpose of regulating our personal lives. (Introspective, self-aware people, etc.)
